Rob Burke 3

Rob Burke coached the Men’s Basketball Team at Spartanburg Methodist College for 6 years and has recently entered his second season as assistant coach at The Citadel.

During his career at SMC, Burke has established the Pioneers as a Region X contender, posting a 98-57 overall record. In the 2005-2006 season his team posted 22 wins; and in 2007-2008 posted 24.

In just his second season at SMC, Burke’s Pioneers played for the Region X title.

Burke has a very diversified background. He had an outstanding career as a point guard playing for his father Bob Burke at Chowan College. His father has coached at every college level as well as having coached three years in the NBA with the Portland Trailblazers.

Coach Rob Burke previously coached as an assistant at Division II Limestone College and Division I Campbell University.

Before both of those stops, Burke played and coached in Ireland for the County Clar Jets, who competed at the super-league level.

Burke, whose teams at SMC have averaged 20 wins a season, has developed an outstanding reputation as a teacher of the game and as a recruiter throughout the state of South Carolina, recently signing four South Carolina All-Stars.

This past summer, Burke had the honor of being hired to work the Nike National’s Girls Skill Academy.
