Baker’s Event Draws National Talent – By Adrain Washington Texas Prep Stars

Ganon Bakers event was without a doubt one of the best in the country this past weekend- October 8-9, 2011.  The 3rd annual ‘Skills Select Nationals’ have quickly become one of the premier events to attend during the high school girls basketball fall (NCAA) viewing period. Texas Prep Stars.com covered the one of a kind and trend setting event held in Atlanta, GA. and TPS can honestly say that Baker has introduced a pro style of training to the grass roots era. With tons of talent from across the nation starting to fill the Westlake High School gym, you could feel the high energy from more than 8 dozen invite only female athletes and many onlookers in the crowd ready to get it on.

The (Peach State) couldn’t get any sweeter. Over 70 Universities attended the two day clinic, and most coaches couldn’t believe the cluster of talent that was gathered under one roof. Be it U-Conn, Stanford, Baylor, North Carolina, or Syracuse, all were impressed by the turn out and competitiveness displayed by these young ladies. As Baker Starts the warm Saturday afternoon of with elite drills, it didn’t take long to see the young Super Stars separate themselves. The camp was divided into two parts which consisted of Group (1) and Group (2).

Group (1) set the pace on the first day with standouts like Alexis Prince, Alyssa Dry, Ronni Williams, Alexis Brown, Te’a Cooper, and Jessica Jackson to name a few.

Group (2) feature high profiles such as Breana McDonald, Alaina Coates, Shannon Cranshaw, Precious Person, Aisha Turner, Kayla Montgomery, and Kaydra Duckett.

These names were just a pinch of the hand over fist talent that was displayed, and I can guarantee you next year will be even better. The young Talent was amazing. Holding their own with the upper classmen was not a problem for the future stars of Ganon Bakers Skills Select Nationals.

Kelvin Powell, the director of Ganon’s event’s said “ We just want to provide a quality product and give these young women a shot at life and at the next level of basketball .”
